Giants

Hi!

I know I'm late with this, but I wanted to post the mani I sported for the Super Bowl. Since I'm a New Yorker, I just had to support my home team Giants! I actually don't follow football at all and didn't think I'd be into the game but I was hollering at the screen the whole game lol. It was pretty intense and SO FUN! Though that Tom Brady has got quite an arm, I am proud to say that the Giants won! YAY!

I did a fairly simple mani using OPI in 'Dating A Royal' which is such a gorgeous blue! One of my faves for sure. Unfortunately, the topcoat bubbled up, so I will have to re-swatch this beauty at some point. For the Giants logo I used Wet N Wild Wild Shine in 'French White Crème' and the red stripe is Art Club in 'Red On Red'.

On another note, Color Club is having a nail art contest on their Facebook page. They posted this:

Edgy Leaves

Hi!

For this post, I bring you Essie in 'Pretty Edgy'. I caught this picture as the sun was setting behind some houses. I'm not sure if you can tell, but it's reflected on my nails, which I think is pretty cool.

I thought a nice leafy print would work well with this color so I got out my Bundle Monster plate (BM19) and stamped my ring finger using Konad special polish in white.

Let me tell you if you don't know already - the original Bundle Monster full nail images are quite small. Even after I cut my nails down, the image didn't cover my nail - almost, but not entirely. I just stamped wherever I thought looked unfinished and voila! I was happy with how it came out.

Year of the Dragon

Yesterday was the Lunar New Year and we're now in the year of the Dragon! Over the weekend I had planned a manicure to celebrate but it was a big fail, so I ended up doing something else and it came out much better.

I was so happy with how this turned out! Looks like fire doesn't it?? Fiery Dragon's breath right on my nails! I used Zoya in 'Kimmy' and Orly in 'Glitz & Glamour'.

In the Mood

Hi!

I'm so excited today! I made my very first video playing with Claire's Mood Color Changing Nail Polish in Awesome/Silly! What a perfect name to go with my mood right now too! It feels so awesome to create something and just a teensy bit silly because I'm not sure if anyone will even be interested in watching my nails change colors. Regardless, it was fun to put together! So here it is :)

First pic is indoor light. Second pic is using flash, which IMO is more color accurate than the first one. (*Edited to add: lighter color (Silly) is under hot water and darker color (Awesome) is under cold water*)

Special Day, Special Color

Hellooo!

Today is my niece’s 10th birthday! I can’t believe she’s growing up so fast! Seems like only yesterday she was this tiny baby girl and now she’s getting so tall! Her party is this weekend, so later I’m going to do a mani using her favorite colors – yellow and purple. But for this post, I have something else to show you!

Yesterday I received a bottle of De-Luxe-Cious that I won from Color Club and it is such a unique color! It’s this steel-y bluish gray color with a ton of holographic glitter. See for yourself!

De-Luxe-Cious is a bit sheer. I did three coats in the first picture. In the second picture I did two coats over a coat of Sci-Fi by China Glaze. To me, De-Luxe-Cious by itself has a softer look and has more depth to it, which I think I prefer. Can you see a difference?

In Da Club

Hellooo!

So Color Club does this giveaway on Facebook every Friday where they post a bottle picture of a Color Club nail polish and you e-mail them two guesses of what the name of the nail polish is. Usually the winner is the first person who guesses it right, but today they let the first five win, and guess what?? I was one of the five! In honor of Color Club's generosity, I wanted to do a celebratory mani using one of my Color Club polishes - Ultra Violet.

I did two coats here. In the pictures it looks like I could've used another coat, but it looks fine to my naked eye. I don't even know how many pictures I took, but it was a lot! My camera just refused to pick up the gorgeous duochrome. If you think the picture looks nice, it looks even better in person! Even when FH saw it, he said "Ooh, it's chromey!" Of course he meant duochromey, but it was cute nonetheless hehe.

My name is Jen and I'm a shopaholic. I'm pretty bad because I end up buying things that I don't really use. For instance, high heels. I have all these high heels that I don't really wear, but I do love to whip them out every so often and prance around in them. I went to TJ Maxx last month and came across these pretty Nine West lace heels for $39.99.

Turns out my friend bought a pair for our other friend and for herself as well. Her sister even has a pair! These ladies have great taste, so it makes me even happier with my purchase.

New Year, Fresh Start

Hellooo!

Man, where does the time go?? It seems like only yesterday that I moved! Now here we are starting a new year. I hope everyone’s holidays were wonderful! I spent my holidays hanging out with friends and family – it was nice. I just love all the Christmas decorations in the neighborhood! It’s not something I saw much of where I used to live and I am loooving it!

So in June, I told you guys that my boyfriend proposed to me and that we’d be getting married January 17, 2012. Well, we decided to postpone the big shindig and we really don’t know when we’re going to get to it, but eventually perhaps!

Something I really want to do is to keep up with the blogging. And I know I’ve been all about the nail polish, but I might start branching out to the world of fashion and maybe even makeup. I am, by no means at all, an expert in any of these areas, but I really want to share my loves with you loves!

For now, I share with you the manicure that I sported to welcome 2012!

First picture was taken in sunlight by my window. Second picture was taken under a lamp. At first, this was just going to be my pedicure, but after I was done painting the little piggies, I knew I just had to paint my tips the same! It is just so utterly blingtastic!

Popping in!

Wow it's been a LONG time! Do I suck at this or what? Man, I was struggling this semester and I had such a hard time concentrating, but I made it through!

And some bigger news... I got engaged! My OH and I had been discussing it for a while and one day it was just like oh my gosh, we're gonna get married! So he let me pick out my ring and he actually pulled off a surprise proposal! There he was, sitting on my bed with my guitar, which he doesn't play but he learned a tune from "Friends"... You might be familiar with it... It's a tune that immediately makes me think of Phoebe called "Smelly Cat" but with his own words. He had me laughing and crying all at once!

Here's a picture of us right after - he caught me looking like a bum in my PJs! lol

So now that the semester is over we're in the middle of moving and after that we gotta get to planning our wedding for January 17, 2012! That's our anniversary =)

Meet Bacon! The only girl and oldest of 8 pups. This was around the time we got her in mid-November. She was almost 9 weeks old here.

Our little girl is almost 5 months old now... My, they grow so fast! Here she is at 4 1/2 months! You can't tell from the pics, but she's doubled, maybe even tripled in size!

Her baby brother, who is the youngest of the 8 pups, lives with my BF's family. They're crazy together! Here I am with them at 14 weeks old. Bacon on the right, her brother on the left.

You can't tell from the pic before, but Bacon is double the size of her brother! Here they are on a vet visit together at 15 weeks old. Bacon on the right, her brother on the left.

I have been gone so long! So much has happened, from friends getting married and having babies to midterms and finals! After finals, I just hid away in bed for so long that I ended up getting too lazy to do anything - EEK! Well, I'm not here to write about anything nail related, but I was so outraged with this online rebate site that I had to share this with anyone who can help spread the word.

BEWARE of CashBaq. http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/cashbaq-c401911.html -Happened to me :(

Basically, they were a trusted company for a while... Lucky me, within a month or so of joining, I was told that a check was on its way to me some time in November. I never received the check so I searched for a phone number, but couldn't find one. I ended up messaging customer service by opening a "ticket" on their site asking about the check and never got a response. I checked back every once in a while and saw that the ticket was gone. So I opened another ticket that's still sitting there, probably waiting to be deleted too. Their site is still up and running with an updated copyright at the bottom for 2002-2011. Just thought I'd try to warn whoever I can so that this won't happen to more people.

China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint Konadicure

Ding dong the flies are gone! Yippeeeee ^.^ Hehe, okay so I have a little something for you today. It's a bit odd, but I think I like it :)

For the base, I used 3 coats of China Glaze - Re-Fresh Mint. The gold stamp was done with image plate m21 and China Glaze - 2030. The splotches were done with image plate m70 and Konad special polish in black.

I wanted to get a shot of what it looked like before I put the black splotches on, but I didn't get a color accurate pic. Ah, what the hey, I'll post it up anyway ^.^

And here's Re-Fresh Mint on its own.

Rainbow Nails Tutorial

I haven't been online much to post anything new, but for my last post, Tara asked me to do a tut so here it is. Please forgive my total noobness.

4 coats of China Glaze - Rain Storm on pinky and ring fingers. 3 coats of Icing - True Blue on middle and index fingers.

At this point, I smudged my pinky, so I added another coat (or two?) of Rain Storm to try to smooth it. To start my rainbow, I took a green striper (Absolute! Nail Art in Pine Green) and painted the middle and ring fingers like so. Don't worry about being a little messy as you can clean it up when you're done.

Here I took a blue striper (Art Club in Midnight Blue) and painted along the green on my middle finger.

At this point I was afraid of my camera battery dying, so I took less pics of the process, but I think you get the point. I took a yellow striper (Art Club in Rio de Oro) and painted along the green on my ring finger. Then I followed the blue on my middle finger with an indigo (Absolute! Nail Art in Royal Bleue).

I followed the yellow with an orange (Art Club in Dijon). I painted over the yellow a little bit 'cause I realized I didn't leave enough room for the red. On my middle finger, I followed the indigo with a violet (unnamed Q-Art Nail Paint).

Here I painted the red (Art Club in Red on Red), overlapping the orange a little. If you look closely, you might notice I added green glitter (Art Club in Green Glitter) to the green.

I decided to jump ahead and bling up the rest of the rainbow.

List of glitters used...
Red: Art Club in Red Glitter
Orange: ZN Nail Art (unnamed orange glitter)
Yellow: Art Club in Gold Glitter
Green: Art Club in Green Glitter
Blue: Art Club in Blue Glitter
Indigo: ZN Nail Art (unnamed charcoal glitter)
Violet: Hurricane Nail Art (unnamed magenta glitter)

As you can see, I didn't have indigo or violet glitter, so I just used what I had and I think it came out fine.

For my pinky, I took out Color Club in Sexy Siren, wiped a lot of excess glitter off the brush and swiped it across the nail. For my index, I used Wet n Wild French White Creme to dab on clouds. If you want them more uniform looking, Konad has a great cloud stamp on image plate m79. And finally I got out my Revlon Street Wear in Hologram, wiped off excess glitter and randomly applied them one/two at a time on the nail for a rain effect. I cleaned off my cuticles with a q-tip and some remover. Then I added top coat to all my nails and voila! ^.^

I'm still wearing this, by the way - I need all the bright and pretty rainbows and glitters right now. If you're sensitive about bug/insect (and death of) talk, you may want to stop reading now. My living room has been overtaken by a sudden infestation of house flies and I don't know where they're coming from! We've had rat problems in the building for a while now. And this past month, we've had a few flies, but not like this... This is disgusting and depressing. Thank goodness they seem to be gathering around the windows though, which also kinda sucks since it's my best light source for pictures - DOH! I managed to break the only fly swatter we had earlier today, so as I'm typing this up, my mom is on the hunt for some swatters and fly tape. I hope I haven't turned anyone away by this fly talk. Just thought I'd let you know what I've been dealing with these past couple of days. I'm itching to do some more designs though, so if worse comes to worst, then I'll just have to take pictures in the bathroom, my second best light source lol.

What Rainbows May Come

Hi my peeps! ^.^ Boy did it rain today! It was gloomy all day so I wanted to do something bright and cheery. ^.^ I knew I wanted a rainbow so here's what I came up with!

The rainbow is shooing the rain away - yay! Though, I do kind of like the rain on my pinky. ^.^

For the rainbow, I used a bunch of nail art stripers and topped it all off with the closest matching glittery stripers I could find. Some of them are made by Art Club and the rest I found in random beauty supply shops so they don't all have names.

Color Club - Sexy Siren and Revlon Street Wear - Hologram (for the rain)

Color Accent Challenge Nails!

Good evening! ^.^

I told you that I'd try to bring it up a few notches today, right? I sure hope this doesn't disappoint! This week we were given the instructions to do a grayscale manicure - we could use white, black, and gray with one color to give it some oomph! Haha okay, maybe not exactly in those words, but I like that word - OOMPH! Even my BF is laughing and going "Oomph! Oomph!" with me. Yes, we're weird like that lol. ^.^ So this manicure almost didn't survive, but I'm really happy with the end result and I hope you like it too. ^.^ I bring to you my entry for Polish Hoarder Disorder's color accent challenge.

Base colors:
Brucci - Alexandra's Gray
Icing - Ice Queen
Precision - U Rock & I Roll
Wet n Wild - Black Creme

Stamp:
Konad - M60 (plaid and flowers)

For the plaid, I used Konad Special Polish in White. For the flowers, I used Konad Special Polish in Pink and colored over them with Art Club nail art striper in Light Purple, which looks more like a hot pink to me... Maybe magenta? Then I used Mattese nail art striper in White to fill in the centers of all the flowers.

NYX Blue Ave over WnW Black Creme

Hi ^.^ I just love reading your sweet comments! And I'm so glad you enjoyed my last post! Today's post isn't as exciting, but I'm definitely going to try to bring it back up a few notches tomorrow!

For today's swatches, I've got pictures of NYX Blue Ave. (a flaky polish) over Wet n Wild Black Creme. I was racing against the sun and really just wanted to show you the NYX flakies so I did 1 coat of WnW Black for my base. There were bald spots, but I feel like I've done it no problem with 1 coat before.

I find that some people don’t like the NYX flakies and I can understand where they’re coming from. See, when flaky polishes just started getting popular, I went and got myself NYX Peach Ave, which was a MAJOR disappointment. The flakes were almost like pieces of foily paper that didn’t really smooth out on the nail. Ick. Not too long ago, I guess NYX took a hint and reformulated their flakes. I went to the beauty supply near my school where I got Peach Ave and saw the reformulated Blue Ave and Purple Ave so I picked those up. I was going to get Peach Ave too, but it still looked the same, oh well. Here are some pics.

Can you see the difference in the pic? You may notice that Peach Ave is not in the regular NYX bottle - that's 'cause I like the NYX brush and wanted to use it for something I like better. I'm not quite sure why I didn't just kick Peach Ave to the curb, but she's still here with an attitude saying "you're gonna want me back". Or maybe that's just the voice of the hoarder in me... Either way, I probably wouldn't repurchase any of the NYX flakies, but I guess they're still nice to have.

Scrangie a la Konad

Helloo ^.^ I tried to get more pics of Scrangie today, but it was a fail. I also feel kinda tired and shaky, so I apologize in advance for the turdtastic pics I bring you today. >.<

Last night, my friend asked me to do a stamp for my next post, so I thought long and hard about what I could put over Scrangie. I was really afraid to mess up the awesomeness! Since OCNailArt has a coupon out, I knew I wanted to show you a konad image. Finally, after much deliberation, I went with image plate S6 and China Glaze DV8 (from the OMG! collection) as the stamp color.

Special Post

So today was my close friend's birthday and I wanted to paint my nails with something special. My friend loves purple so the color that immediately popped into my head was Rescue Beauty Lounge - Scrangie. I knew that this polish was gorgeous from the bottle and from the many pictures I've seen online, but I fell even more in love with it as I was putting it on! Let me tell you, I don't often go so gaga over a color. Not like this. I used 3 coats and each one was prettier than the last! So many thoughts were running through my mind... I thought if I could only have one polish, this would be it. And I always wondered how anyone could choose a favorite. I never thought that I could until now. Scrangie is definitely something special in my book. I even thought about giving up my first child for an endless supply of Scrangie lol. I wouldn't really... Or would I? Hmm... Hehe. I took a zillion pics of Scrangie, but only one came out somewhat decent, so here she is.

I decided to leave the image size as is. The pic is blurry, but it was the only one that caught even a glimpse of the beauty that is Scrangie. She's a beautiful mid toned purple with a green iridescence created by the one and only Scrangie in collaboration with Rescue Beauty Lounge as part of a blogger collection. Revlon Gum Drop (Redux)

Okay, I know I've done this swatch before, but PetiteAsianGirl left me a comment saying she really liked the color. Seeing as Gum Drop was LE, I tried looking for a comparison pic with Essie Lilacism online and realized how off my swatch looked. Bad jeninjafer :( So today I bring you a better pic yay!

I had painted my index finger too, but as I went to take the pic, my hair smudged it! Lesson learned. Hair UP while swatching! And to show you how off I was...

Shame, shame, shame! What on Earth was I smoking?? My deepest apologies for my turdtastic pics before :( Even now I feel like I haven't captured the true color and I took a LOT of pics too. To me, on my nails, it looks a little bit more red-toned and a little less blue-toned. I only hope to get better at this >.<

As I said earlier, Gum Drop was LE, but you're in luck if it's the color you're digging! As I don't have Essie Lilacism, these two AMAZING bloggers did comparison pics of Gum Drop and Lilacism which appear to be pretty close dupes! See for yourselves ;)

And oh-hoho! Look what I found in my stash! Something comparable that recently came out ^.^ In this pic I have Brucci - Sweet Dreams... Carol on my index (Gum Drop on the rest). The Brucci is a smidge darker and definitely more opaque. I did 3 coats, but I think 2 careful coats might be good.

Brucci can be found at Rite Aid and Duane Reade. The selection is much better at Rite Aid. I've also seen Brucci at random stores that sell beauty products and whatnot. Brucci sells for a reasonable price of about $2.50-$3.00. I've heard that Brucci can be hard to find towards the West Coast so, if anything, Essie Lilacism might be your best shot.

Okay, so I'm no Usher, but can anyone else imagine him singing his OMG song to a bottle of China Glaze - OMG? Hehe silly me. Onto the polish!

3 coats used here. No top coat. This is a nice holographic polish. Dries to a kinda matte finish which might have you reaching for the top coat, but I heard that top coats tend to dull the holo effect. I took pics of OMG with and without top coat to see. First pic is without top coat and second pic is with.

I think it did dull the holo a little bit, but it’s still pretty. So I guess it depends on your preference~ more holo or more shine? What do you think?

Unfortunately, I’m not sure where you can find this anymore. I happened upon this at a great beauty supply in Brooklyn. OMG came from the China Glaze OMG! Collection that came out in 2008 which I believe has been discontinued. You can still find most of the other colors at Victoria’s Nail Supply though.

Okay, so this post reminded me of my friend’s wedding because she was looking for a song to start her slideshow, which wound up being Usher’s OMG. This led me to remember I forgot to post my mani from that day. I used Icing – Taylor. A light pink shimmer. I forget how many coats I used, either 2 or 3. It was a bit simple yet pretty.

Jade Green Comparison

Things just got busy up in this place! So here's a random comparison picture for you today.

Index to pinky: Charlotte Russe - JDE Nail Color, Claire's - Dreamcatcher, Delia's - Mint Polish, OPI - Hey! Get In Lime

Quickly, I can tell you that Charlotte Russe and Claire's both have shimmer while Delia's and OPI are cremes. Not too sure about Delia's and OPI, but I think that these might all be hard to find now. I think I got very lucky with the Charlotte Russe 'cause it was the only one I ever saw. If you're thinking right now, "darn you, jeninjafer, darn you for posting these hard to find colors," then maybe this will make you feel better... These babies are all 3-5 coaters for me and weren't particularly fun to apply. The OPI was the 5 coater for me, but that could have been my fault, so I will have to swatch it for you again, patiently next time. If you have any of these, tell me what you think of them. I'd love to hear from you ;)

So if you're wondering what's going on with me, I just got my acceptance letter to Baruch College. In the packet they sent me TODAY, they informed me that they scheduled a math test for me tomorrow morning and a Microsoft Excel test next week! GAH! I'm afraid I might not do well and they'll end up making me take remedial courses (aka math for dummies). We do not want this 'cause they'd be boring and, worst of all, wouldn't be worth anything. x_X I might have to suck it up for next week's test though, 'cause well, I think I am a dummy when it comes to Excel... Maybe the BF can give me a few pointers since he's a whiz with it ^.^

This is such a gorgeous nude! A little thick and runny at the same time but workable. 3 coats used and the nail line is still slightly visible. Totally worth $1.99 at Walgreens. They usually have sales too, BOGO, I think? Haven't seen a sale in NYC in a while though, but that could just be me. Oh, Sinful Colors is also available at Cherry Culture and they frequently have 20% off deals with free shipping over $40, which I find super easy to reach! LOL. Love. This. Nude. ^.^

Okay, so I've been thinking a lot about what my first post back should be and I figured what better than my entry for one of Polish Hoarder Disorder's theme weeks? Not only are her challenges inspiring, but her pictures are seriously TDF. I began following her around Valentine's Day this year and when she started these theme weeks, I was hooked. So if you haven't already heard of her, you really need to check out her blog. Click, click! ^.^ This is the first one I've actually submitted to her, and silly me, I was super nervous sending it! I know it's not as great as her pictures or other entries submitted by super creative ladies, but I wanted to join in so bad! It's all in good fun, right? So here's the picture I submitted ^.^

A Quick Post and A Big Sorry!

I'm soooo sorry that I've been M.I.A. for so long! I know it seems like I've abandoned this blog, but believe me when I say that I've been thinking about it a lot! I'm in the middle of my summer course right now and it has been kicking my butt! Kinda sad since it's only one class, but it'll be done soon and I will have much more time to focus on my nails and post more goodies! ^.^

Well, what prompted me to come here and write was to warn people against a product I recently used. It's not related to nails, but here goes...

For a while my mom and I have used Carefree pantiliners and I recently switched to Kotex, which was fine. Then the Kotex ran out so I stumbled into Walgreens to get some more pantiliners. Right next to Kotex was the cheaper generic Walgreens version, so I decided "why not"? I have nothing against Walgreens, but I'm gonna tell you why you should definitely NOT go for Walgreens pantiliners if, like me, you ever think "why not"? So after a week of Walgreens pantiliners usage, both my mom and I are having some feminine issues down below. A lesser issue with these is they don't stick to your undies well. So ladies, I say stick with the name brand pantiliners. Don't skimp on your cooch cuz it'll show you who's the boss!

I'll Be Back

Helloo... Sorry I haven't posted in forever! I've been feeling like a busy bee lately...

On another note, one of my close friends is getting married on Wednesday and I'm acting as a bridesmaid of sorts. She'll be one of the first of my close friends getting married. Another one will be getting married in November and I'm a bridesmaid in her wedding as well! I had no idea the work that goes into these babies... I have come to the conclusion that I'll be having a backyard wedding if I even have one at all. =X

More Scents!

Helloo! Today I bring the rest of the scented Revlons I got last week. ^.^

Orange Pop
3 coats. Sorry for the dinged up nail and the bald spots. I was impatient to try the rest of the colors so I rushed through it – sorry Orange Pop! Scent is very familiar. Could it be an orange pop? Not sure, but it’s a sweet scent and I don’t mind it. Color is different from indoor light to sunlight. Indoor light gave more of an orange look while sunlight brought out a pinker tone to it. It was hard to get a good picture of the way it looks in the sun, but I finally got one. The rest picked up a lot of this golden shimmer that is not apparent on the nail, to my naked eye anyway.

Grape Icy
3 coats. Hard to photograph, as my camera likes to take colors and change them after I take the picture. In real life, the color was a little darker. Pretty color. At first I thought, sure, grape icy, but I thought the name might’ve been suggestive, so I thought about it and it smells like gummy bears to me. Yummy.

Peach Smoothie
3 coats, could’ve used a 4th. Scent definitely does not remind me of a peach smoothie. I think I’m going to have to go with Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit gum or some other gum that’s not ringing any bells at the moment. Really cute peachy crème color with sparse pink microglitter throughout.

Bubble Gum
3 coats. Such a fun, hot summer color. A bright cool toned pink which I thought looked okay on my warm toned skin, so I’m not sure but me likes. This smelled like some sort of gum too. Not the same as peach smoothie though. Not bad.

Gum Drop
3 coats, could’ve used a 4th but to the naked eye 3 was okay. The color I looked forward to most. Not sure if it works for my skin tone, but I still like it a lot. It’s soft and sweet. BF caught a whiff and said it smelled like gumballs from those machines and I was like yeah that’s what it is! Made this my full mani. ^.^

Obstacles (non nail related)

So the past few days have been emotionally taxing for me. I started thinking about this blog and how I really wanted to keep up with it, so even though I had nothing nail related to share, I wanted to post something here anyway. The last time I tried to start a blog, my cat (of about 17 years) got sick and I left the blog alone. He passed away earlier this year and I never went back to it. About a month ago, my brother's neighbor also passed away and I ended up taking her cat in. I still miss my old cat a lot, but the new cat has been able to bring much joy back into my life as well.

When I finally started this blog here, another hurricane came and just blew me away - something very private that I will not be disclosing to anyone. So even though the last few days drained me quite a bit, I wanted to make something positive come of it all. I never did finish college, so today I registered for a summer class and am actually kind of excited to do something with my life again. I feel a fire burning inside of me that I haven't felt in a while. I just wish that it hadn't taken something so awful to bring it about, but I shall try to remain positive.

Ocean Breeze swatch

Okay, so my plan was to swatch all of the Revlons at once and make Gum Drop my full mani. I swatched Ocean Breeze first and as I was taking pictures, I found myself reluctant to take it off, so now I'm rocking it on all ten fingers! LOL. And since I'm indecisive about which picture I'd like to post, I'm just going to show you a bunch!

WARNING- I apologize in advance for my dry, raggedy cuticles/skin! I'm so bad about moisturizing. I hope it doesn't offend anyone too much! =X

Well, first off, I just want to say that Ocean Breeze doesn't look as frosty in person as it does in my pictures. This is 3 coats and it glows like whoa! It even looks different at certain angles. I'm not sure if this will work on all skin tones, but I think it’s super pretty.

In these pictures, I was trying to capture the awesome blue color that I see at this angle. Man, you need to see this baby in person 'cause my pics don't do it justice.

I think these pics show the glowiness better than the rest...

Everyone is probably reminded of different things, but to me, Ocean Breeze smells like air freshener. It's not something I love to smell, but for the color, I don't mind putting up with it. Hopefully the scent will fade soon. And if you're wondering, top coat didn't affect the scent for me.

Also, here’s a video I just watched: Taylor Swift – The Best Day. I’m a total cry baby ‘cause this video made me tear up a bit. =X All kinds of love makes a complete sap out of me!

Score!

Revlon recently released their second collection of limited edition scented nail polishes this year called Scents of Summer. The collection includes Beach (lime green frost), Ocean Breeze (turquoise frost), Peach Smoothie (light peach shimmer), Orange Pop (bright orange frost), Gum Drop (pastel purple creme), Grape Icy (purple frost), Cotton Candy (light pink frost), and Bubble Gum (bright pink creme).

So, last week, I went on a mad hunt looking for the new collection. I heard they were spotted at several Rite Aids, so I went to about six different Rite Aids and let me tell you, by the end of the day I was exhausted and had nothing to show for it. I thought I'd give it a little while before I hunted them down again.

Some time earlier this week (or was it last week?), I had won tickets for myself and a guest to see a screening of "Death At A Funeral" today. After waiting on line for an hour, my BF and I were told there was no more seating in the theater. -_- Extremely disappointed, I dragged my poor BF (who had work all day) to Sephora, Duane Reade, Walgreens, CVS, then finally to Rite Aid and guess what I found at the latter?! I am now the happy owner of these pretty babies...

They were out of Cotton Candy (boo) and I decided not to get Beach 'cause I wasn't sure how it'd look with my Asian skin tone.

All in all, the night turned out just fine. Though, while at Rite Aid, my BF decided to test out his blood pressure with one of those machines they have in the pharmacy section. Turns out he has prehypertension which, according to wikipedia is "where a person's blood pressure is elevated above normal but not to the level considered to be hypertension (high blood pressure)". I tried it too and I was normal, but we've decided to watch what we eat and try to exercise more and hopefully we can get him back to normal too. Talk about Rite Aid to the rescue, huh?

And I have to make a shout out to my wonderful BF! He was a total soldier for going on the hunt with me, in his work clothes no less! I love that freakazoid. ^.^

First Post!

Helloo and welcome to my first post! ^.^

Thought I'd start off by telling you a little bit about myself. My name is Jennifer (most people call me Jen) and I'll be turning 26 in two weeks~ yay! I've been wanting to start a blog for a while and I'm finally getting to it now. My BF was telling me that I think too much (he's right) and that I should just write whatever comes to mind, so here I am. =)

Over the last couple of years, I've managed to collect a whole lot of nail polish thanks to the lovely lemming makers over on the Nail Board at MakeUpAlley. I've always been more of a lurker than a poster, but the Nail Board is full of amazingly awesome women who'll keep you coming back for some laughs and good times. There's much to be learned as well, such as different techniques, treatments, base coats, top coats, moisturizers, etc... Check it out, but be forewarned- due to the many beautiful pictures of nail polish you will see, countless lemmings may be born, so hold onto your wallet 'cause it's gonna be a bumpy ride! LOL
